About your College Counselor
I am a proud product of LAUSD. Graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1994 and pursued my BS in Criminal Justice at San Diego State University. After graduation I returned to Los Angeles and worked with LA County Probation with at-risk youth. In 2001, I started teaching with the SEA Charter Schools in Pacoima and North Hills were I found my passion in helping students graduate regrading any obstacles they may face. I then took an assignment with GEAR-UP working with 1st generation students to pursue higher education. This assignment was dear to me because I am that 1st person in my family to attend and graduate college. I then returned to CSUN to pursue my Counseling credential to become a Counselor.
I have had the honor to work at VAAS as the College & Intervention Counselor since 2015. We have an amazing team that has helped me build this College Going Culture on campus. We participate in amazing activities to challenge students to find their College & Career dreams the moment they walk in to VAAS. All grades participate in College Knowledge Wednesdays, Advisory grade level preparation, IGP Family nights, AP & Elective preview nights and College field trips to be prepared for their College selection.
I am proud mother of a 6 year old son who enjoys sports and outdoor activities. In my free time my son and I enjoy road trips, sporting events and theme parks for entertainment.
